Port Alberni Island Cup Finals!
June 19, 2008Published by fgtaylorWell around the same time my teammate Danice was hopping on a plane to Italy to race the Worlds (good luck girl!) I was hopping on a ferry and heading to Port Alberni to race in the Island Cup Finals. Yeehaw wouldn't want to miss that for anything!
 Racing Port Alberni holds fond memories for me. It was my first Island Cup race ever, back about five years ago, I convinced my good friend Micki that she should come and try out racing. We hit the road talking about the race, kind of nervous, and about halfway on the drive from Courtenay to Port her bike went flying off the back of my toyota and bounced into the ditch. I guess I was so excited about the race I forgot to strap it down. Sorry Mick. Anyway that first race was awesome! And not much has changed, Port Alberni still puts on a great race even though now it is down the other side of the mountain. This year was sunny and hot and had a great turnout to battle for an overall position in the series. Good to see a grass roots movement doing so well! I think it's probably bigger than the BC Cups at this point-keep up the good work on the Island!
This was a fun weekend. Can't wait till next year! Yeeeeeeaaaahhh!!!!

Yeah, I wanted to take a peek at the sheet after they were done, and they didn't put in two of my races. So lucky me, I went from fourth to first. : D Dustin has to hunt down the second place trophy.
Ya Brent! I believe former VI cup champ Andrew Mitchel was at the worlds this past weekend, maybe your next buddy!
